The friction brake tightening mechanism is partic. for a rail vehicle parking brake, having an electric motor with reduction gear and conversion mechanism producing linear movement of the shoe-actuating member. The switch is formed by double contacts (35,36) and is controlled by the force from the conversion mechanism (38) acting on the spring accumulator (17,18).
