The parabola-shaped wad (4) is for a hunting firearm cartridge. This has a normal wad and incorporates a hollow base with a central percussion primer. Its rear face is arched in a parabola for inserting into a normal cartridge case (1). It is wedged between the normal wad (7) and the cartridge base (2). The latter is virtually parabolic inside, forming the explosion chamber containing the powder (5). The wad has a coned opening (4') and has a disc (6) on its face to press onto the other wad.
