The laser has an optical resonant cavity and a vessel ble to maintain an active gaseous medium inside the cavity, as well as a system to excite the active medium. The vessel is divided into two chambers separated by a transparent wall placed in such a way that it is traversed by the laser radiation. One chamber contains the active gaseous medium which, when excited gives a laser radiation. The other chamber contains another gas which is excited by another system to give another laser radiation when the first gas is not excited. This laser permits different laser beams to be emitted at different times in the same direction and is used e.g to combine telemetry with telecontrol in antitank weapons.
