The device connects e.g. a car headlight or horn to the atmosphere in order to ensure heat dissipation when the internal temp. becomes excessive during functioning, and ensures the penetration of air when the appts. is stopped whilst avoiding a penetration of water and dust. The device comprises an elastic plate (26) which is pressed around an aperture of a vessel such that this plate (26) closes the aperture which is situated near a boss (4(2)) which is fixed relative to the vessel. In practice, the elastic plate (26) is a disc with a hole at its centre, closed by the boss (4(2)).
