The overhanging table, for use by invalids reclining in bed, is made of wood, metal or plastics, and can be manoeuvred by the patient without outside aid. The table (A) has an upright (B) fixed to the top and with a hole (E) midway up. Each side of the upright has one end of the two support arms (F). The upright and two arms are held by a bolt and screw. The two arms are fixed to a suitable axle such as a hospital bed.
