N-Allyloxy:carbonyl para-hydroxyphenyl glycine - useful intermediate for para-hydroxyphenyl glycyl chloride, used in antibiotic synthesis

2-(p-hydroxyphenyl) glycine of formula (I) is new: It is made by reacting D(-) 2-(p-hydroxyphenyl) glycine with allyl Chloroformate in presence of aq. alkali hydroxide, than acidification. (I) is an intermediate for D(-)2-(p-hydroxyphenyl) glycyl chloride hydrochloride (II) which is used in synthesis of cephalosporins and amoxycillin. (II) is now prepd. with very high purity and in yields of at least 80%.
