The parent patent involved a hollow casing into which a broad rigid terminal or board could be inserted so that, in accordance with a previous addition, a number of individual conductive strips were pressed by a spring to contact the surface(s) of the insert. The conductive strips were small frail and secured by local laser welding. In this addition, the conductive strips are mounted on the surface of a panel of flexible non-conductive film mounted like an inverted trough so that the insert pushes the centre of the film between a pair of external convex springs. The springs bear against the bare face of the film so that the face carrying the conductive strips makes good contacts across the surface of the insert. The conductive strips are readily applied to the carrier film while the film is flat, are less fragile than unsupported strips. Pref. the film is of polyimide and the conductive strips each comprise a thin leaf of copper covered with an alloy of tin and lead by roll lamination.
