The radiation dosimeter includes a semiconductor crystal which provides an electrical output signal whose amplitude spectrum depends on the spectrum of energy of the radiation received by the detector. An amplifier circuit including two stages of amplification cooperates with an electronic compensating circuit to provide an output to a digital display showing the radiation dose received by the crystal. The dosimeter may be carried by a person who is exposed to radiation in his work, and has a response which is equivalent to that of the human tissue. The electronic compensating circuit together with a filter over the crystal avoid the hypersensitivity to low energy radiation which is a fault of normal integrating meters.
