Disposable overshoes for use in operating theatres etc. - with impermeable bodies extended by gaiters of nonwoven material for ventilation

An overshoe for use in e.g. medical applications, has a body of tough, impermeable film having a sealed seam at least along the top of the body, and is extended to enclose the ankle with an integral gaiter of non-woven thermoplastic fabric. Used esp. for disposable sterile overshoes for use in operating theatres etc., to protect against splashing, being tougher than shoes with paper or non-woven bodies and cooler to wear than versions with impermeable gaiters. Pref. the body of the shoe is made from one or two panels of flexible PVC and covers the front of the foot to a greater height than the back. Pref. the rear of the gaiter ends in an open, opt. overlapping, vertical seam, secured by simple tie strips, for good ventilation.
