The device is plane on one face and corrugated on the other with a period corresponding to the wire spacing. Stiffening rods are embedded in the vinyl, an adhesive layer is added to the plane face and this is covered by a peel off protective layer. The extruded adaptor is cut into lateral strips as long as the cable width and wider than the lid of the connector and the ends notched at the crests in the undulations to ease alignment. The adaptor is glued to the cable aligning the notches with the conductors and permanently staked by the insulation displacement contact when the lid is clipped into place. The adaptor is deformed to fill the space between the lid and the cable.
