The fuel injection nozzle includes a baffle (16) which projects beyond the nozzle body (14) into the combustion chamber (10) and acts to protect the fuel spray issuing from an outlet in the body from the mass of swirling air in the combustion chamber. This minimises the risk at high engine speeds of the fuel spray contacting the wall of the combustion chamber. The baffle may have apertures or slots to allow some air to flow over the nozzle, to thus remove fuel drops from it.
