Breakage monitor for moving fibres - has reciprocating post acting on arm pivoted by moving fibre

The monitor monitors the continuity of moving fibres using an arm made to touch the fibre. The arm is U-shaped and the tensioned fibre passes between its limbs. The arm is pivoted about an axis by a spring-loaded post moved axially by a rotating cam. The arm is then pivoted farther by the moving fibre such that its free inner end moves clear of the operating rod of a switch. When the fibre breaks the arm falls back. During the next revolution of the cam the post engages the arm and pulls it down farther thereby operating the switch. The post has a hook to engage the arm during the post's return motion.
