EXPERIMENTAL WATER TANK FOR TESTING REPRODUCTION OF ICE FIELD

PURPOSE:To achieve an ice breaking experiment under a similar condition to natural ice field with inexpensive equipment not requiring a large refrigerating equipment and others by forming an imitation ice of a highly pure fatty acid. CONSTITUTION:For the production of a simulated ice-field, a highly pure acetic acid such as stearic acid, myristic acid, laulic acid and palitic acid are used as the material. To make a simulation ice A in a water tank body 1, a hot water made in a hot water tank 11 fills the body 1 thereof with a pump 15 up to a specified depth at a temperature of about melting point of the simulated ice A. Then, a liqufied simulated ice dissolved is poured into the body 1 upto a specified depth from pouring tubes 7 at four corners. To delay the solidification of the simulated ice A, a hot water is fed to a temperature controlling water tank 21 from a hot water feed tube 22 while a cool water is fed thereto from a cooling water feed tube 23 for acceleration. When the simulated ice A is solidified, it is towed by a model boat 31 or self-propelled to perform a ice breaking experiment. After the completion of the experiment, broken pieces of the ice A are picked up.
