FORMATION OF PROTECTING LAYER FOR GAS BLOWING HOLE BY POROUS SLAG COATING

PURPOSE:To form a protecting layer on a gas blowing nozzle, by leaving a molten slag remaining in a converter after tapping, and blowing an inert gas into the converter from a gas blowing nozzle while forming a coated layer on a gas blowing nozzle part, and forming a porous solidified slag layer on a blowing nozzle. CONSTITUTION:A slag coating of a converter bottom including a gas blowing nozzle is performed after tapping, by leaving a molten slag remaining in the converter, standing the converter upright, and rocking the converter several times through a trunnion shaft. At the same time, an inert gas of the prescribed press, and quantity is blown continuously till the coated slag solidifies. The blowing flow rate of the inert gas to make the coated part porous is preferably decreased with the proceeding of solidification of the slag coated layer. Further an adding of calcined lime, lime stone and light burned dolomite to the remaining slag is more effective.
