METHOD FOR PREVENTING VON KARMANSIGMA VORTEX STREAM IN REAR CURRENT OF CYLINDRICAL BODY

PURPOSE:To supress the alternating driving force generated by the Von Karman's votex stream behind a cylindrical body disposed in normal against the direction of the liquid stream. CONSTITUTION:A gas is injected in the upper stream of a cylindrical bosy 1 disposed in normal against the liquid stream 2 or evaporation from the surface of the cylindrical body is promoted to produce bubbles 4 in the liquid stream to supress or extinguish Von Karman's votexes which cause self-oscillation generated behind the cylindrical body 1 and to change the vortexes into stable vortexes 5. Thus vibrations, caused by Von Karman's vortexes generated when the liquid stream flows in normal against the tubes of a heat exchanger, iseffectively supressed and the service life of the apparatus is extended.
