PURPOSE:To enhance the productivity of sintered ore without deteriorating the quality by adding an aggregating agent having an action of forming pseudo-granules to starting materials for sintering including a specified amount or more of fine iron ore and by sintering the materials. CONSTITUTION:Starting materials for sintering is blended with fine iron ore having =125mum size so that the grain size index SD represented by equation I (where W is wt% of fine iron ore having =125mum size and DP is average grain size mm.) is adjusted to =200. An aggregating agent such as slaked lime having an action forming pseudo-granules is then added, and by further adding an adequate amount of water, starting materials for sintering are prepared. The materials are sintered by an ordinary method. Thus, the productivity of sintered ore can be enhanced while maintaining the quality as sintered ore for blast furnace.
