PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain a brazing joint which is the same in strength as compared with the conventional one, and excellent in quality by a method wherein a fin is formed by brazing an alloy consisting of regulated percentages of Si, Cu, Mn and Mg and impurities containing Al and less than the specified percentage of Fe. CONSTITUTION:An alloy containing 0.3-1.0% Si, 0.05-0.25% Cu, 0.6-1.5% Mn and 0.45-0.9% Mg and the remainder Al and impurities, in said impurities, especially Fe is less than 0.8%; and further, in said alloy composition, one or more than two kinds of 0.05-0.25% Cr, 0.01-0.25% Ti and 0.03-0.25% Zr is used as a fin material and the fin is produced by brazing such alloy material to a suitable base. Thus, for the super high pressure plate fin type heat exchanger produced by brazing the alloy thus constituted to the base, the coexistence of Si and Mg in the alloy increases the strength of the alloy, prohibits the entry of Si diffused from the brazing alloy, Mn displays the alloy strength and an anticorrosive property and improves the brazing characteristic of the alloy and Zr increases the strength of the alloy especially at high temperature and improves the anti-buckling characteristic of the alloy. The fin 2 thus produced is brazed to a separate plate 1 with a brazing material.
