PURPOSE:To make better the water permeability of a bare ground for preventing the degradation of the bare ground by a method in which a revetment mat made of compacted fibers with a water-passing chamber is laid on the bare ground and then the surface of the mat is covered with a reinforcing material. CONSTITUTION:A net 2 is provided over the upside of a flat-plate revetment mat 1 made of compacted natural or chemical fibers, they are connected by coils 3, and weights 4 are connected to the lower end of each mat. The revetment mat 1 is laid on the lake bank S by turning the weight 4 downwards and then fixed by anchor 7 while a wire 5 is fixed to the mat 1 by a stop metal 6. Thus, even when the water level of the lake L is varied, only the water permeating the soil of the lake bank S passes through the spaces in the fibers of the mat 1 and goes back to the lake and fine soil and sand are interrupted by the mat 1.
