In this plant, an injection line (45) containing a flow resistance controller (49) whose control action has the effect that the coal part streams in the injection lines (45) are equal, leads to each blow-in site. To feed combustion air, the plant can be provided with a ring main (55) arranged around the process vessel and with blast connections (56) leading from the ring main to the individual blow-in sites, and each having one differential pressure transducer (58). When the differential pressure in the blast connection (56) falls below a preset value, the coal feed in the corresponding injection line (45) is interrupted until the burning site again permits the feed of hot air from the ring main. The plant can have a stock tank (15) and a metering bunker (24), each with a weighing device (65 and 74 respectively). The total coal mass flow to be introduced into the process vessel (44) is controlled without interruption by the weighing devices (65, 74). The stock tank (15) can be connected to a grinding unit (3) and to a preheating unit (2) upstream thereof. Warm flue gases or waste gases from other processes can be used for drying and conveying the coal.
