PURPOSE:To shorten the machining time and to stabilize the dimensional accuracy of a machined work, by machining the cylindrical inner surface of the work simultaneously by grains and by electrolytic action, and electropolishing the inner surface by a feeble electric current. CONSTITUTION:In the case that a cylindrical inner surface 2 of the work 1 is machined by a tool 3 wherein the non-conductive grains 4 such as borazon grains are secured on the circumferential surface by a conductive material 5, the work 1 and the tool 3 are connected to a power source in such a way that work 1 is made to serve as an anode, and the tool 3 inserted in the work 1 is made to serve as a cathode. In a tank containing an electrolyte that is apt to passivate the work surface such as an aqueous solution of NaNO3 or the like, while a feeble electric current of several volts and of up to several amperes per unit area is passes through the electrodes, the tool 3 and the work 1 are relatively rotated and reciprocated axially to machine the cylindrical inner surface 2.
