PURPOSE:To provide the titled platemaking system capable of easily and simply prepare a master sheet by such an arrangement wherein a sheet of thermal transfer medium is overlaied on a printing substrate so that its lipophilic layer is faced to the hydrophilic layer of the substrate and the heat soluble lipophilic layer is transferred onto the printing substrate. CONSTITUTION:A sheet of thermal transfer medium 2 composed of a thin substrate 4 and a heat soluble lipophilic layer 5 provided thereon is overlaied on a printing substrate 3 composed of a water resistive or so processed substrate 7 and a hydrophilic layer 6 provided thereon so that the lipophilic layer 5 is faced to the hydrophilic layer 6. A master sheet 10 can be simply prepared by thermally trnasferring the lipophilic image part 9 to the printing substrate 3 from the thermal transfer medium 2 by a thermal head.
