1468757 Sheet separating apparatus GD SpA 29 May 1974 [31 July 1973] 23782/74 Heading B8R Piles of blanks P advanced intermittently on conveyer 10 towards a hopper 1 are transferred one by one into the hopper by a device F which includes a pile support bracket 26 arranged to be moved firstly in the conveying direction of the conveyer 10 until the pile is vertically aligned with the hopper, downwards to move the pile into the hopper, laterally outwards of the hopper to release the pile, upwards and lastly horizontally back to its initial position. The piles are transferred to the bracket 26 by a pair of pushers 18-18SP1/SP and 19-19SP1/SP. The pusher 19-19SP1/SP is arranged to be moved firstly towards pusher 18-18SP1/SP to laterally align the pile. The loading of a pile into the hopper is initiated upon sensing of a particular level of the existing pile from which sheets are being removed by suction members 6. The suckers pull each sheet vertically downwards free of pile support strips 5 and load it into a pocket (formed between adjacent T-section bars 9) on conveyer C which may feed it into a cigarette packaging machine.
