1469649 Stabilization of chlorine-containing polymers NEYNABER CHEMIE GmbH 22 March 1974 [23 March 1973] 12809/74 Heading C3P Chlorine-containing polymers are stabilized by a mixture of 1-10% by weight, based on the weight of the chlorine-containing polymer, of (a) a zinc- or calcium-containing stabilizer, (b) 0À1 to 5% by weight, based on the weight of the chlorine-containing polymer, of a metal-free ester consisting of a mole of a polyol selected from ethyleneglycol, propyleneglycol-1,2, propyleneglycol-1,3, butyleneglycol - 1,3, butanediol - 1,4, hexanediol - 1,6, neopentylglycol, glycerine, trimethylolpropane, hexanetriol, erythritol, pentaerythritol, mannitol and sorbitol esterified with up to n - 1 moles of a saturated, aliphatic, unbranched or branched 1- monocarboxylic acid having 6-11 carbon atoms, or a mixture of such carboxylic acids, wherein n represents the number of hydroxyl groups of the polyol, (c) optionally, at least one of stabilizing assistants and antioxidants, the weight ratio of (a) : (b) being from 1 : 5 to 5 : 1. The acid component may be a caprylic acid and capric acid mixture in a 7 : 3 to 1 : 1 weight ratio, or an isomeric mixture of nonane carboxylic acids. Preferred esters include the glycerine diester and propyleneglycol monoester of a first running fraction of coconut fatty acid which contains a mixture of 50-70% by weight of caprylic acid and 50-30% by weight of capric acid, and the glycerine monoester and diester of an isomeric mixture of nonane carboxylic acids derived from the OXO synthesis.
