PURPOSE:To provide a winder using a friction clutch which can always keep winding tension constant by providing a detecting arm, the rotating angle of which is changed depending upon the growth of wound diameter, and increasing frictional torque with a change of the detecting arm. CONSTITUTION:A growth of wound diameter detecting arm 7 having a roll 18 at the end thereof is secured to a shaft 6 of a sprocket 5, and the roll 18 is brought into contact with a winding surface of a winding drum 8. The sprocket 5 is interlocked and connected to a sprocket 10 engaged with a screw 11 fitted to a shaft 23 of a friction clutch 4 through a gear mechanism 9 including chains 12, 20, whereby as winding progresses to increase the wound diameter, the arm 7 is turned to rotate the sprocket 10 and helically move it to the left. Thus, a spring 13 is compressed to push a winding drum driving sprocket 3, so that the frictional torque is increased to keep winding tension constant.
