METHOD OF EXTENDING LIFE OF FURNACE BOTTOM THROUGH EXCHANGING OF TUYERE

PURPOSE:To extend the life of furnace bottom by providing operating tuyeres and spare tuyeres, beforehand packing refractory material into the spare tuyeres, and if any of operating tuyere becomes unoperatable, immediately opening the spare tuyere and operating the same. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of tuyeres 1, 2 are provided to the tuyere parts of a bottom blown converter, and indefinite refractory material such as MgO is packed in the unused spare tuyeres 2. The operating tuyere 1 is gradually clogged at its tuyere port owing to adhesion of base metal until finally it becomes unusable. At this time, immediately the spare tuyere 2 is pierced by a drill or the like and is mounted with a tuyere pipe, thence fluid flow passage is changed over to the spare tuyere 2 by a change-over valve 4, and the operation is continued.
