TDMA radio telephone system with flexible structure - achieves immunity from cross-interference using head stations and fixed local station

The radio telephone system has head stations (LS) connected together. The radio traffic is in TDMA. Each head station has devices to assign channels in TDM to the fixed stations (FS), to charge the local station currently operating and to transfer a connection from a mobile transceiver (MS) to an adjacent head station. Each mobile transceiver synchronises itself to the received time raster and periodically transmits its identification code via the channel provided. The head station serving the mobile transceiver deduces the mobile transceiver's distance from the fixed station concerned using the transmit time of the identification signal.
