The compression equipment is intended for treatment of burns to counteract hypertrophic scar formation and contracture. It consists of hard transparent material, pref. acrylic plastic, which is shaped using an impression of the body part concerned as starting point. When used as a face mask, the equipment is pref. provided with cut-outs for eyes, nose and mouth and with fixtures for straps or the like to secure the mask behind the head. When used for application to the neck area, it pref. consists of front and rear portions connectable e.g. by burr strips (Velcron-type RTM). The equipment may be vacuum-formed on a positive mould itself produced from a negative impression taken from the patient. (Fl).
