The arrangement is for feeding cattle or other animals. It comprises a feed hopper (1; 2-4) with a closure flap (8) near its open underside which is rotatable (A) about a horizontal axis (6) by an animal pushing against a downward projection (9) of the flap. On rotation from its rest position, the flap moves into the closed position whilst releasing the fodder lying on it via an outlet opening (16). When actuated, the end of the flap away from its pivot preferably passes near an upright plate (11) whose upper edge is spaced from the lower end of a hopper side wall (3). The upward swivel may be limited by an adjustable stop (14).
