The dc supply for the appts. obtained through batteries or rectified mains, is entered via a switch whose on state is indicated by a tell-tale lamp. A memory is provided for storing an entire compilation displayed on a screen-protected grid whose contents are provided for deleting a square, entering a black square, indicating the beginning of a horizontal word and that of a vertical word. The operator uses the keys to form a completely filled grid from a given set of clues. An incompleted game may be stored for later attention, after which erasure is obtainable either via a 'memory minus' key or by momentarily switching off the game. The appts. may be used alternatively for a game of battleships.
