The treatment bath has a plastics housing containing a height adjustable seat and having an access door which can be opened from either side. The upper part of the housing has a opening bounded on one side by the top edge of the door for accommodating the neck of the person sitting on the seat. A steam or hot air generating unit is placed underneath the seat and/or a regulated input flow opening supplied from an external source is positioned below the seat. The door has a peripheral seal to prevent the steam or hot air from escaping from the inside of the housing. Pref. the steam generating unit uses a water container containing an electric heating element and incorporating variable steam outlets in the lid.
