In the method, timber packages (P) are inserted at one end in the opposite direction to drying air, and removed (dried) at the other end. In a drying channel (10) is an intermediary recess for packages (P4), allowing the simultaneous drying of collections of timber of small and large dimensions, and also the drying of packages to a different final degree of humidity. Such non-standard small-dimensionsed packages are taken out of the drier via the recess, as are those to be dried to a higher final humidity. All other packages are removed from the end of the drying channel.
