The arrangement is intended for welding together stainless steel plates which are to be used in a strongly corrosive environment, e.g. an offshore platform or a chemical plant. The object is to avoid subsequent corrosion near the welds resulting from structural material changes due to the welding heat when using a normal butt or lap weld. The edges of adjoining plates are shaped.
