Recovering energy from hot liq. stream - by contacting in heat exchanger with circulating fluorocarbon which is recycled via a turbine with generator
Process for recovering energy from a stream of hot fluid comprises contacting the stream in a heat exchanger with a circulating fluorocarbon heat exchange medium (I). The (I) then passes into an insulated pressure vessel or chamber, from where it passes via a compressor to a turbine connected to a generator, and from the turbine is circulates back to the heat exchanger. (I) is pref. difluorochloromethane, difluorodichloromethane or an azeotropic mixt. of difluorochloromethane and pentafluorochloroethane. Process allows recovery of energy from a stream of hot fluid such as air or other gases, liquids and powders. The system is suitable for use in large scale units or small isolated units useful e.g. in domestic environments, in agrictulture, on islands, etc.
