The shaft (1) with rubber rollers (2) is intended for transporting paper sheets or the like e.g. in a printing machine or copier. Each roller has a radially acting spring element (4) vulcanised in its central bore (3) by means of which the roller is clamped on to the shaft. This element may be a coil spring (as shown) or an axially slotted clamp bush. Assembly may be carried out by placing the rollers complete with their elements in recesses (6) of a longitudinally slotted (7) mounting block (5) such that their axes are aligned after which the shaft is axially pressed-in.
