Feed product which comprises liquid feedstuff and a solid carrier more than 50 by weight of which consists of peat, a process for producing the feed product and the use thereof as an ensiling aid

This patent describes a feed product for animals, which product comprises at least one liquid feedstuff, for example molasses, whey, etc., and peat as a carrier for this feedstuff, where appropriate together with conventional feed product components such as solid feedstuffs. That which is characteristic of the feed product according to the invention is that more than 50% by weight of the peat consists of sphagnum peat, that the peat has a degree of humification within the range H1-H3, and that the radio by weight of liquid feedstuff to peat is within the range 2:3-6:1. The patent furthermore describes a process for producing the feed product, which process involves mixing the liquid feedstuff with the said peat under conditions such that either the water content of the peat is at least 10% by weight or the water content of the liquid feedstuff is greater than 30% by weight. If a more solid consistency is desired, the resulting mixture can subsequently be dried after which it is combined, if so desired, with conventional feed product components, for example solid feedstuffs. The patent furthermore describes the use of the feed product as an ensiling aid.
