The invention relates to a process for alkali recovery and is intended for use downstream of the soda dissolving tank 1. The waste gases are passed from the soda dissolving tank, through a vapour pipe 15, to the vapour condenser and to the condensed water separator via a coupled scrubber, where a weak alkaline liquor is used for washing. After the washing process, the scrubber discharges the washing liquor and the constituents that have been washed out of the waste gases and are collected in the washing liquor. This material is directly passed over to the suction side of the pump for the weak alkaline liquor, which pump feeds it into the soda dissolving tank. IMAGE
