1527360 Method for performance of enzymatic reactions using cross-linked microporous enzyme membranes RESEARCH PRODUCTS REHOVOT Ltd 12 Nov 1975 [3 Dec 1974] 46800/75 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] The invention comprises a method of performing an enzymatic reaction which comprises causing an aqueous solution of a substrate, which may be chemically altered by enzymatic reaction, to flow under a pressure differential through a cross-linked enzyme membrane by applying pressure thereto, the cross-linked enzyme membrane being a microporous membrane in the pores of which an enzyme capable of bringing about said chemical alteration in said substrate has been cross-linked by means of of a bifunctional coupling agent. Particular reactions described are the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide, oxidation of glucose to glucosonic acid, decomposition of urea and resolution of racemic mixtures of esterified and N-acylated amino acids by enzymatic hydrolysis.
