1518357 Treating waste water polluted with organic substances AGROTECHNIKA NP 19 Dec 1975 [22 Dec 1974] 52162/75 Heading C1C A process for cleaning industrial and agricultural waste water highly polluted with organic substances includes the steps of mixing the water with an alkalinizing agent containing calcium so as to obtain a pH above 9, saturating with CO 2 , coagulating the obtained precipitate by mixing the treated water with a coagulating agent, and separating the coagulated precipitate from the liquid. Insoluble calcareous salts of organic acids and phosphates are precipitated, and organic material is denatured due to the high pH, and also micro-organisms present are deactivated. The precipitated calcium carbonate impregnates the precipitated matter and crystallizes to give a stabilized suspension which is coagulated as above. Iron or aluminium salts may be used as coagulating agents.
