A pocket is disposed laterally upon the quarter portion of the athletics shoe. The pocket comprises a liner of material, stitched or otherwise fastened to the side of the shoe. The upward edge of the formed pocket may be stitched to the shoe near the location of its eyestay, and may have a slide fastener through which miscellaneous personal items may be inserted for safe keeping, e.g. whilst jogging. The upper edge of the pocket may alternatively be formed as an open slot. There may be a fold-overcover flap for the pocket, held down by a hooked-pile fastening strip, to improve appearance and give further security for the contents.
