The invention relates to a stake (10) for limitation of the loading area (11) of a vehicle, in particular of a lorry, with at least one bearing or self-aligning bearing (16) which is arranged at a distance from the loading area (11) and is intended for a swivel pin (25) or the like of a liftgate (8) as well as with a bar (24) which is movable approximately in the longitudinal direction of the stake (10) and forms a part of the bearing wall surrounding the bearing cutout (15). The stake (10) is to be improved with respect to its handling and safety. This is achieved by virtue of the fact that there is mounted in the stake (10) a linkage (24, 29, 31, 36), the upper end of which is connected to the bar (24) and the lower end of which is arranged in the region of the loading area (11) and can be connected there to an operating member (19) by means of which the bar (24) can be displaced and the distance of the bar (24) from a fixed linkage bearing (34) can be changed. In addition, the intention is that the linkage (24, 29, 31, 36) be of length-variable design and/or that it be capable of being rotated by means of the operating member, which is designed, for example, as a crank handle (9) which can be detached from the linkage.
