The invention is concerned with an air-tight tower silo, from which introduced CCM is fed via upper clearing members to a middle fall shaft and is removed at the lower end by a cross-conveyor mounted in a channel. So that no inert gas is forced out of the tower silo into the open by the CCM falling in the shaft, the fall shaft at the lower end or the removal channel is connected to the upper space of the silo by means of a compensating pipeline.
