A masking prod. comprises (a) a support formed by a bioriented plastic sheet one surface of which has a linear surface tension (LST) of 4 x 10 power -4 to 5.5 x 10 power -4 N/cm, while the other surface has an LST of 3 x 10 power -4 to 3.5 x 10 power -4 and (b) an adhesive layer applied to the surface with the higher LST. The prod. is used for D.I.Y. jobs and protecting surfaces such as walls, glass, when painting. The adhesive anchors strongly to the support; paint 'slip' on the non-adhesive part of the prod. is avoided and the prod. can be rolled on itself and then unwound without damaging the adhesive layer.
