Device for cooling or drying of coarsely granular, pourable material with a plurality of superimposed floors rotatable about a common axis, wherein each floor is subdivided into a plurality of segments, which are each able to tilt about a tilting axis lying radially with respect to the common axis of rotation, and with devices for retaining the segments in the plane of their floor and for enabling tilting of the segments only in one zone of rotation, characterised in that with each floor (1) there is associated a tilting lever (35) which can swing about a stationary swinging axis (D), and which can forcibly tilt one segment (2 to 5, 25, 48) at a time in the zone of rotation (51), that a first lever arm (38, 40, 41, 42) of the tilting lever projects into the path of movement of the supports (6 to 8, 23, 46) for the segments and can be tilted on an engagement with a support, and that a second lever arm (41, 44) of the tilting lever, upon a tilting of the first lever arm, comes into engagement with a segment for forcible tilting of the latter about its tilting axis (B).
