Steep coal seam working unit carrier frame - has supports striding cylinders engaging articulated beam and accommodating backfilling walling

The appliance for working steeply sloping coal seams, or other deposits, comprises a carrier framework, extending lengthways through the long face, with articulated movement capacity. This has hydraulic support members coupled to it, via striding cylinders. The framework consists of a hinged beam (15), with its sections (15') engaged by the striding cylinders (28) of the support members (16). The walling sections (33) of the backfilling walling are located on these. The beam sections can incorporate guideways (27) for pref. paired guide-rods (25) for the striding cylinders.
