ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURECompositions stable in the absence of oxygen areformed by mixing the following substantially in the absenceof oxygen(A) mercapto-functional organosiloxanes containing atleast two mercapto groups per molecule,(B) optionally, a filler, and(C) a catalytic amount of a cobaltocene of the formula(R3C5H4)Co(C5H4R4), wherein each R3 and R4 is hydrogenor methyl, preferably, 0.01-6 parts by weight of(C5H5)2Co per 100 parts by weight of (A) above.The compositions polymerize or cure upon exposure tooxygen. By utilizing various types and amounts ofmercapto-functional organosiloxanes, higher molecularweight products useful as encapsulating gels, coatingresins, or elastomeric sealants can be obtained by themethod of exposing the compositions of the presentinvention to oxygen.
