ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTIONA method and apparatus to optimize and control theproduction of an oil well which is being artificiallyproduced by gas-lift techniques. The invention is suitablefor use with either continuous or intermittent gas-liftoperation and can be used with a combination of both. Thetemperature of the fluid at the wellhead is sensed andused to determine the injection parameter values to optimizewell production. In one embodiment, a process control unitis programmed according to the inventive method to interpretthe temperature data and to control the gas control valve tooptimize production.
