A 4-dimethylaminophenol hydrochloride solution which on intramuscular administration causes no pain and induces no tissue necrosis, characterised in that it only contains small amounts of water or is water-free and in that the solvents used are physiologically tolerable lower alkanols, glycerol, glycols, glycol ethers, hydrophilic amides, esters, ethers, sulphones or sulphoxides or fatty acid esters or unsaturated oils or, in general, mixtures of such solvents, and also the process for the preparation of such pain-free injectable solutions by dissolving 4-dimethylaminophenol hydrochloride in the solvents mentioned and further processing to give injection solutions under the required hygienic conditions.
