A self-supporting polymeric diffusion matrix allows the sustained release of 5- AD (3,4-diméthoxyphénétyl) methylamino BD-2- (3,4-dimethoxyphenyl) -2-isopropylvaléronitrile so as to administer AD 5- (3,4-dimethoxyphenethyl ) methylamino BD-2- (3,4-dimethoxyphenyl) -2-isopropylvaléronitrile to a patient and provide the patient with an anti-angina effect and relieve other cardiac disorders. The matrix comprises from 1 to 60% of a polar plasticizer, 6 to 30% by weight of polyvinylalcohol, from 2 to 30% by weight of polyvinylpyrrolidone, and from 2 to about 5% of AD 5- (3 , 4-diméthoxyphénétyl) methylamino BD-2- (3,4-dimethoxyphenyl) -2-isopropylvaléronitrile to produce a sustained release of the AD 5- (3,4-diméthoxyphénétyl) methylamino BD-2- (3,4-dimethoxyphenyl) -2-isopropylvaléronitril for an extended period.
