Device for measuring the geometric condition of the running tread of the rails of a railway track

The device comprises a measuring carriage (2, 4, 6) defining a transverse reference base parallel to the plane of the track, which carriage is intended to be connected to a traction engine. This carriage comprises three sensors (13, 14, 15) arranged on top of and across each stretch of rails so as to cover a part of the contour of its running tread. These sensors are connected to a circuit for processing their signals which is capable of determining the degree of curvature of the running tread and its inclination with respect to the plane of the track by taking into account the values representing the distances between the reference base and the running tread vertically below the sensors. The determined values are then stored in a tape recorder in the form of a graph of their variations as a function of the path travelled. IMAGE
