The storage container for photographic transparencies comprises a housing (12; 21,25,16) containing slide drawers (20; 23-25), each having a locking mechanism inside the front panel (25). Laterally extending latching elements (28) can engage recesses (17) in the housing side walls (15,16) under spring force. The projecting latch ends are pressed inwards by inclined faces (18) at the front of the housing walls, as the drawer is closed. The two latching elements are formed as a resilient plastics strip (27), whose central portion is bent outwards in V-shape (31) and extends through slots (30,30) in the drawer panel to form a hand grip and provide the spring action.
